Is the 100 a real dog upwind? You spend proportionately more time beating on a W/L course than RTC.

Sorry yes need to explain better: in winter we have WL and a big fleet of 400, 15 or so. In the summer it's RtC and only around 5 400s out so its much easier to find a clear lane etc

No I wouldn't say so.. A little slower than a phantom. The disadvantages I found (in my example) straight away you're in dirty wind because they've got their jib sticking out in front of you on the start line. But I suppose this is true of most singlehanded boats against two sails boat in a small area. Now I've got a Phantom it's more of a competition against the 400s rather than damage limitation

IMO nope, you can point and like any hiking boat, it will reward effort, technique and effort .. did I mention effort? although that said, you can just hang off it too when you get knackered and need a  rest!

We are very similar, I also find it easier to win when there are fewer boats to beat me  Wink

Just seen the item about the worlds ... I am confused  Confused

I thought they had merged into one class now with open rig choice; but the article seems to be referring to two separate classes?

On the ISAF page only the RS100 is listed:


If they were separate classes they would be listed separately like Laser, Laser 4,7 & Laser Radial.

What is the score?

The Class rules say : "C.1.2 The RS 100 may be raced with either the 8.4m2
or the 10.2m2 mainsail."
I'm sure the SIs can give them separate starts, but if (big if, very big if perhaps) my understanding is correct I'm not at all sure ISAF would be happy if they declared two world champions.
[edited 7 October - I checked the regs, and they are allowed to declare a World Champion for a subsidiary event, so my understanding was NOT correct!]
