Ive drag raced a 300 on a broad reach in the 600 and was pulling away significantly. When the guy was about 100m behind he went round onto a tight reach in the other direction. I then gybed and followed him, and within 500m i had over taken him again.
Theres no way i can believe the 300 is quicker than a musto or 600.

(sorry for the hijack)

Its all very subjective to wind/sea state.  you also have to remeber that Steve is the fastest 300 sailor in the country and exceptional in the big stuff.  I will say however a 600 should be faster and the musto, but on some points the 300 will be there or there abouts and will give a 6 a run for its money.  That is from experience.  Anyway are RS still making the 6?? LOL Wink

Hijack over, back to the 100

When i had my 300 I used to overtake and leave in my wake when windy a contender he was faster upwind but i blizted him downwind of reaching as for the speed comparision between the 100 and the 300 i would say it would be close when reaching as for upwind the 300 would win it hands down providing you go bow down mode !!!!!!

Another milestone - just loaded the first two RS100s headed to the continent of Africa - South Africa to be precise. They'll be sailing by Christmas which sounds pretty appealing doesn't it as the temperature dives here?
Mind you, they'll probably have to dodge the sharks - better send a coaching DVD too

That sounds like good news.  Where in SA are they headed to?

One is headed to Point Yacht Club in Durban - not sure about the other one. If you're down that way the owner of the boat in Durban is happy for interested people to try his boat.
