Trouble is that it looks like he is still using a conventional Laser mast (the dimensions are about right and there's not much bend) so it won't work like a C2 Byte and automatically depower. 10m2 is then a heck of a lot of canvas/mylar to be holding down for someone Leo's size.

I'm sure you're right, but having a full length batten a few inches above the boom doesn't seem quite right

Yeah, I saw that and wondered. Of course, it's a loose footed boom so you would have to have some support for the bottom panel of the sail. Perhaps it has been cut down from something larger.

The panel seem to be cut radially from the clew and the one that runs along the leach is very narrow indeed. I'm also tempted to say that to my untrained eye the bottom batten rises towards the mast as opposed to the battens above which appear parallel.

Apparently it was made by a windsurfer sail maker. I'll have a dig around later.

It was common enough in the 70s...

This rather tired thirty year old mainsail is ex Nicola Bethwaite.

i dont think it looks too bad actually. the leech on the main isnt very nice and neither is the cut of the kite but i dont think the hull looks that bad. would be nice to see it in some wind, that main looks huge!
