Looks interesting to me - certainly more so than the 8.1. Anyone care to guess the area? Seems large, but I guess if it's self-depowering you can take more area. Think I'm right in saying that the C2 Byte rig is larger but requires only the same crew weight as the old rig? |

It looks larger to me too. I notice the mainsheet is still going to catch around the back of the transom!

Assuming it's using standard Laser spars, I'd reckon about 10m2 from that photo. Nice! |

Following the third coast photos watermark clue i would strongly suspect this is just a clever way of using a windsurfer sail http://www.thirdcoastphoto.net/ww07/windsurf/index_5.html norb Edited by Norbert |

The geometry is all wrong to be a windsurf sail. The foot of a windsurf sail rises to meet the clew and windsurf sails are designed for much more mast bend than that. It looks to me like Leo Sayer has got himself a custom sail made up. Trouble is that it looks like he is still using a conventional Laser mast (the dimensions are about right and there's not much bend) so it won't work like a C2 Byte and automatically depower. 10m2 is then a heck of a lot of canvas/mylar to be holding down for someone Leo's size. |
