No worries on any of those issues - see the association forum for full answers - BUT its always interesting to see what's going on out there !! It's a healthy sign generally that there is so much activity but the boat is fine as it is ..... if people want a spinnaker (and alternative PN) no problem as long as they can 'revert' when needed for class racing on the circuit etc. Both experimenters report that the boat has some very fast potential without additonal vices but you do have to haul all that wet gear upwind - and it can be slower then. Efficiency via a sorted 10m sail plan, relative light weight and plenty of leverage does the trick for most of us ! After all we already have very fast reaching and the option of planing upwind when it blows. See you at the Nationals then - not long now ! Blaze 720 |

Indeed not long now. I look forward to getting my lovely shirt :-).
Better get some time in the boat too as I have barely sailed since March! Paul |

Gotta say that that looks like the most natural spinnakered singlehander around. B14 racks presumably give you that little bit more feeling of security rather than faffing around looking for a trapeze wire. Takes the Blaze from being just another ho hum singlehander into something altogether more interesting. |

"If you cant see my face, I can't see you" How many of those pictures can you see the helm? That kite is very low cut, so if your downwind of him you dont stand a chance! |

It's off a V3000 - two others have been tried, smaller + same but flatter in another trial by the guy now playing with the jib. Remember this is experimental stuff to test capability and systems ..... so you really do love it except you would like a higher cut one perhaps ?

Did the smaller kite have the same luff length (but smaller leach and foot, presumably), cut for the same pole-fairlead positions? (i.e. could i bolt it straight onto my 3000?). Is it also by North? Could be nice for river sailing...

It looks absolutely fantastic. If it wouldn't split an existing strong class then I could see it catching on. It looks somewhat more exciting that a Vareo at any rate, and would capture the market the MX Ray didn't get due to its upwind limitations.

would love a sail in one...
Well just ask the CA ..... 2nd sail experimental versions will be at the gift of the owner though. Might surprise yourself at the 'standard' one in the meantime. We don't refer to the 'X' designation - that was a Topperism and not used much by active racers at any time.... but 'XS' might be appropriate for larger spinnakers now ! Its fast without anyway. Good luck with the MPS, I've always admired them. Anytime you want a comparitive 'go' in a Blaze just get in contact and who knows perhaps we will get up to Draycote sometime - Any 'all class' events coming up ?. Blaze 720 |
