... just back from the Devoti factory this morning after 3 days there.

Highly impressive facility, must be about the best small boat one out there,  and fantastic attention to detail in everything.   Well there were Icons all over the place (!) in various stages of build and in a variety of colour combinations .... not all to my taste if the truth be known but plenty for us 'conservative' types as well.   But it looks like you will get plenty to chose from soon.   We were mainly there to advise on the fit-out standards and set-up.  Forgot my camera unfortunately - but maybe we don't want to show everything there just yet !

Layout will be virtually identical but most likely a full supplied Harken one as standard.  More information and news on Devoti involvement with Icon will soon be released.

Glad that it is going well, are the colours similar to the more esoteric Finn colour schemes, McLaren orange, Ferrari red, etc? Good news about the all harken fit out.

... colours ?

Well it looks like you should be able to have a very wide choice if you want a non-default colour and can allow a bit more time.  Personally I like under-stated colour combinations - typically greys and shades of 'white' as the toestraps, ropes, sail trim, boat name if you have one etc add a fair amount of colour to the 'canvas'.  However if customers  want more 'daring' choices thats fine with us.

Having sold a couple of all 'custard' yellow Blazes in the past they do look fantastic ... if you can cope with the squadrons of insects following you at some times of the year so we are not completely 'anti'.  Devoti will even offer the delights of 'carbon' cloth detailing if specified in time, not something we were going to do ourselves but tastes in some markets are different of course.   I saw any number of 'exotic' Finns being prepared out there so I guess just about any combination thing they can do for them Icon could also feature.

Cambidge blue is the colour of choice for the deck and the rest white, my crew is keen to get on the water, but next time......... It must be said I am guilty of the colour selection for the last two years Finns at the Dinghy Show, so probably shouldn't be allowed to choose anything??!! Mike

Looks like with all these devoti colours being offered that the Icon could be the new Lark....1970's blue anyone?

I thought the 1970s larks were all with a royal blue fading deck, but could be wrong as they were usually viewed through a hangover due to university team racing being the day after club rugby.

I think you pay your money and take your choice, my Finn is clear red with carbon capping, stripe and extenders, the rest white, so there is no limit to the bad taste I can display, but even I would give the retro Lark look a miss!

Ahh, no one can beat the Lightning. Pale blue deck and red hull anyone? or orange deck with cream hull?
