Hi,

I need to screw a few s/s screws into aluminium fittings. Its only about 10 screws in total (mast foot and jib tracks), so don't really want to splash out £15 for some Durulac or Tef Gel. Can I just wrap the screws in ptfe tape, or are there are any other cheap ways of avoiding corrosion?

Loctite (nut lock grade) or epoxy can work.
Filling the joint will grease, preferably copper grease can work too, but it tends to creep out in hot weather and make a mess.
Anything to keep to the water and limit metal-metal contact helps.
Even a bit of wax, oil or WD40.
A tube of Duralac lasts a long time, a smear of it can usually be scrounged. It works better than most things!
