Sounds like a good idea Tim. One for the class to implement quickly I think.

well the race officers/officials at RSC at least are doing a great job and are distinguishing between the rigs based on what we put down when we sign on Smile

I am sure they are too....it's just that they won't be the only ones, and everyone's got to get it right otherwise it's not gonna work if you take an average of a 7.4 (is that a laser or an optimist Wink) and the 10.4 rig.

Hi Tim

well I agree that we are lucky being at a larger club

I also agree that there should be different PYs for the three rigs (even if the average PY numbers end up being similar and the three distributions of returns overlap) and that ideally we should be able to distinguish between the rigs on the water.  I was just making the point that siging on properly is the main way to make sure the correct returns are made

Its a shame RS did not get the boat right from the start instead of having all these different rigs making it very hard to people to chose what rig to buy when they buy their boat plus all the handicap ratings aswell what a night mare for you all.
So whats the rating going to be on the 7.5 then as it cant be rated slower than a vareo when you have more sail area and more righting motion than we have otherwise it will be a bandit rig ????

looks like there is plenty of 'room' for the RS100 7.4 PY to fall in the gap between the PYs for the vareo (1038) and the RS100 8.4 (1014 and possibly falling)

The vareo is still stuck with 1038 and rya dont seem to want to budge on it but most people who sail round the cans try to use 1050 but again not everyone uses this number.Shame really as 1050 would give everyone a fighting chance on handicap against the 100
