The RS100 Owners Thread

It may look a little aggresive, but we like it:

Looks great to me and I think it is going to be a great addition for the class helping lighter guys, ladies and youths to join in - the boat is so light, easily driven and easy to handle that there is no reason why it should not be fully accessible to everyone.

I used my 8.4 for the very first time this weekend. Was expecting a big breeze which didn't happen but as I had rigged for the 8.4 decided to go with it anyway in 10 to 15 knot conditions - have come to some very interesting conclusions - whilst it feels 'different' to the 10.2 (lighter, more nimble, easier for tacking and definately easier for gybing, you can get away with dragging the boom) overall in those conditions I would say for me it was equally as quick - certainly no significant difference around a RTC course other than it was easier. Whilst the 10.2 has a more reassuring (for a heavy weight) 'grunt' and feels more solid / less 'lively' I don't think it is any quicker in those marginal conditions.

I would be up for the smaller sail for really breezy days !

Actually it is currently a one class choose your weapon for each event class.

Not having a dig, but if the suggestion is to 'change gears' by altering rig with the wind strength then that requires at least two rigs. To my mind the Laser, Radial and 4.7 model is the one to copy and I believe that is the intention. But it is undermined if people start swapping rigs mid series without declaring to gain advantage and if results don't make clear which rig was used.
What I think I find unsavoury is the thought of either big fellas using the baby rig in a gale or kids using the 10.2 in a drifter. It seems like overly competitive, unsporting conduct. It happens in Lasers too and seems against the spirit of the game to me.
