brave move in the current economy and best of luck to the new business- they're great fun boats and white formula will hopefully be a good build partner to maintain the one-design ethos.

I'd guess this isn't an entirely voluntary move, but is connected with the almighty Laser clusterf*** that is still ongoing. At least it means the class will have the same name worldwide- as LPE couldn't use the Laser name in Aus, it's been known as the "Dart SB3" over there. Yes, they used a catamaran name for a keelboat.

I wonder if the remaining healthy* "Laser x000" class will now float away as well?

*no offence intended to the 3000- that's had a redesign and a rebirth. But the 4 and 5 are essentially orphan classes.

I can't say I ever got the whole SB3 thing - but Whites have a great pedigree so should be a good move for the class.

Couldn't have been a long meeting to come up with the new name.....

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
