In the racing class review in the mag, it list's no current builder for the ISO, BUT, gives a new price of 7 grand... If there is no current builder, how do you get a new one?

In the unlikely event of you stumping up £7k, a builder might appear...

More amusing, from the Etchells report on the front page:
"Pitt**ter skipper Mark Richards, who is taking a break from his Wild Oats Sydney to Hobart race preparations, was seen dashing off to the Fitness First steam room for a tilt at tossing off 3 quick kilos."
You'd need a sit down after that...

Gotta love the way the "decency filter" has failed to see the wood from the trees on that one (or should that be the wood from the bush...).

why bother with fussy sail track when you can just tie the sail top and bottom!

The answer is no, but surely Topper made one or two good boats.
Search your dinghy park, I bet you will find at least one!

No. White Formula were (are?) a contract boat builder for Topper. They existed before Topper, have built many things other than Toppers/Topper brand boats. They are, for example, rather well regarded in the world of cats, might be something to do with their founder...

They made the Topper... that was a good boat for its design brief.
Blaze- it had potential, but it took someone else to realise it
Buzz, Iso, Spice & Boss- all had their various shortcomings, feeble boats
Taz- rather have a Tera
Xenon- rather have a Vago
Topaz Uno- rather have a Feva
Cruz- rather not sail
okay, okay Byte- fair enough, good boat, even better now it's not got a topper badge!

Not sure of White Formula designed any of those though?

WF didn't design the Tornado either, but some very nice examples came out of there in the 80's and 90's IRC, Hurricane 5.9 is legendary too

And, a good boat is not just about design but also build quality. New AltO owners are more than pleased with the excellent build quality from White Formula.

So does Henry White- left several messages for him when I looked into a Shadow, he never returned calls.
I guess business must be good with all those Asbos they're pumping out...

Well back to the topic. If you wish to buy a new Byte Ovington will give you a price but to buy a new boat they need an order for 5! So unless you buy 5 and throw 4 away you have a price but effectively no builder.

Looks like you'd have to get a fleet together all at once... could be a tall order. Do you know why they need to build so many?

Production cost I presume on such a cheap boat but I hear that B14 suffer as well. It will make it depressing at the Dinghy Show trying to sell a boat which cannot be bought. They do produce bulk orders for the Youth Olympics, Worlds etc. (no worlds this year) and then sell them off afterwards. I wonder if John Claridge or Hartley would like to build another boat? I think Nautiva make them in Italy?

Is the Rooster 8.1 not a class? They have open meetings, and a championship I believe? (or did i just miss it in the review).
