Has anybody ever used one of those attachments at the top of the mast for photo cameras?

I've noticed them on windsurfers, the camera is operated by a string down the mast to the sailor.

They'd only work on one tack but seem to give good pictures.

Any thoughts?

I have put a camcorder on the top of my mast before, just duck taped/lashed it to top of mast on a stick. turned boat on its side to check picture frame set running and go sailing. Video is quite steady and it is a good training aid.

Its not a video camera that i'm after, just a still photo camera.  The type that are used on windsurfers,  it's so i take pictures of the sail shape whilst sail tuning.

Yes but what do you do of the recorder ? The cam just transmit image to somthing able to display or save them ! That's my problem. i also like to have a head cam but all included as I don't want to depend of ar rib or wathever.

I think the one from the site mentioned can just send the images straight to a laptop or camcorder and record in realtime?!

Working on a molded carbon fibre helmet now!

Just takes ages trying to make the crew wearing it as studpid as possible.

I will get some pics up on final result.
