Sorry guys, another scoring conundrum!

In the RRS the points given to a non-finishing boat vary depending on the type of series. The official definition seems to be that it changes if the series is "longer than a regatta".

Can anyone define what this actually means?

We've always taken "regatta" to mean a series where all the races are either on the same day or on consecutive days, but is this correct?

A good "edge case" might be if you had a six day series with a single rest day in the middle - would that be a regatta or not?

Confused

Its something you define in the Sis with the scoring system. There's no point in trying to build in rules.

I would use short series scoring if I anticpate pretty much the same entries for every race, and long series scoring if I expect competitors to come and go.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense and explains why I can't find a "rule" anywhere that clarifies it.
