Thought about a topper spice? double trapeze, fast in a blow, very cheap?

You would be too heavy for a 29erX. Why not sail a 49er?

Yeah 49ers cover a lot of ground quickly!

But as said before the Spice or Topper Boss may be good because both are fast and double trapeze although the boss may (yet again) be to quick across the lake for your sailing area.

Maybe laser 4000/5000

there are loads of B14's that way, you'd be spot on weight wise, fastest non-trapeeze dinghy you can get!

If you only want it for club sailing, then you want to buy what the club sails.

Sounds like a Fireball is best - and you have plenty of potential to decide on your price-point: From under £500 to well over £5000.

I'm thinking you'd be at the top end of the weight range of a FB.  But if there's already a fleet have a play in one, see how it feels.  You'd fly in heavy winds, when me and my crew (18 stone all up :P) just get blown away.

Flying Dutchman might be worth a look in.  Have a look at http://www.fastsail.org - http://www.fastsail.org , covers all the single trapeze power classes

If your looking for an assymetric rather than symetric, maybe a buzz cause you would be able to handle the heavy stuff. But it is a bit slower than the fireball.

Fireball would be ok - Just. The problem is that you are really 5 st too heavy to helm one competatively - better to swap positions with your crew. Same applies to all trapeze boats (obvious really - put the weight where its most effective).

If thats not on you'll be ok for club racing but maybe you should consider something like an RS400 where your weight can be used as well as the crews. Again, best if there is a fleet of them to race with.

what's the difference between a flying 15 and a flying dutchman?

A keel and a trapeze (respectively) amongst other things

In the nicest possible way of course. I think it is safe to say that we are one of the more "special" fleets out there.

why not try a buzz one trap and fairly fast but u might be too heave for it, i was going to suggest you buy a penultimate 14 their fast and amazingly cheep, but if your on restricted water it could be risky!

no he should be ok in the strong stuff but a bit difficult in the light stuff. i am crew and i weigh about14stone and we still move quite a bit and we can hold it very happily in a force 5/6. Also when the winds down (about force4) you can sail them singhlehanded on the wire with a larger extension. They are great fun.
