yeah - um that web cam's been kinda half broken for
a bit. It's always covered in stuff etc - but you might
be able to make out the outline of a boat if you look
hard enough...

I've heard that these guys are coming to Oxford to help raise funds for a new pontoon in aid of the local Sailability group. Is this true? Cos if it is I'll be there!

Your dreams may well come true

The skiffs will apparently be taking people out for joyrides after the racing on Sat & Sun. Not sure yet whether or not the rides are raffled or 'bought'.

Mrs Headfry - is there any way you can check this out for us????

PB....

The news is....

The 18 footers  have very kindly offered    to take people out on the skiffs, weather permitting and after the racing,    wow!

As this event is helping to raise money for Sailability (new pontoon) The rides are being small charged on Saturday and raffled on the Sunday!.......I have saved some penny's, please can I have a ride!!

There will be a BBQ and Ceilidh band Saturday evening! Take a look at the Y+Y home page you will find a great write up about this event!

See you there!

Just noticed that there is now a live webcam feed covering part of the lake. The mark to the left of the picture is Number 8 apparently, though quite how that helps is beyond me!

The camera is pointing directly West and the wind is predominately SW to W most of the time.

Well,

The mighty 18ft Skiffs came to Oxford, sadly not much wind for them. They are AWESOME!!

A huge thank you from me, to the guys on Barron and Smithers

They took me out for a ride, and even let me have a go at trapezing......WOW!!

I have never done that before! how do they sail like that!  they make it look so easy!!  It's monday and I still wearing the silly smile that it gave me - awesome fun!

I did a fine impression of 'human' table top skittles at one point, I'm sure I got the helm and crew .....sorry guys, really sorry

So again a huge thanks to ALL the skiff guys! Please come back again!

If you have never seen them and get the chance to.....you really, really MUST!

Morning all,

I was talking to the organisers and they had a fabulous time. The wind did not show these beasts off at their best but my word, they still shift. Then when you see RS800s waiting to be launched onto the smaller of the two reservoirs that OSC can use and the Skiffs are carried past by on the shoulders of the crew, you gaze in awe and think OMG. Those kites they use are just unreal.

They also spent as long joyriding the club members as they did racing. These guys are superhuman. Far and away the must unassuming, polite and skillfull sailors that I have ever seen.
