Doesn't say if the 'large sailing boat' captain was contacted to see if he realised he has a collision...surely the legal eagles will want to know what happened especially for the insurance claim.

Busy place Sydney harbour though...looks fun...

Pleased to read the crew were physically unharmed.
Not quite sure how their nerves are though!

He had no idea anything had happened until a river cat drove along side and told him

Given that the authorities barely wrist-slapped the ferry skipper who ran down and killed an Olympian in a dead calm, they'll probably merely get the Skiffies to compensate the tall ship skipper for scratching his anchor.

BTW for those who haven't seen the SA thread, apparently poor old Foxy was recovering from a capsize when she was hit.  I thought the splashes visible may have been the fallout from ditching just in front of the ship, but they're more likely to have been the crew desperately trying to swim away.

It's a nice thing that it happened in front of spectators, at least!

Tall ships are normally not a big issue on the harbour - it's the 19-22 knot ferries and the big powerboats that are the scary things.  Sydney, unfortunately, is full to the brim with big stinkboats, including Princesses from the UK - can't you keep them in the UK as efficiently as you hang on to the Ashes?

I was told that they had been in the water quite some time at that point and the ship had plenty of time in which it could have taken evasive action had they been aware of foxy's presence
