Does anyone know of a club near Whitehaven? I'm about to
move there and could do with somewhere to sail during the
week.

Bassenthwaite SC immediately springs to mind. About twenty miles away.

Thanks, Luke. That's quite a way away for a quick evening
sail! I wander if I can get away with leaving a boat on the
beach...

I've previously looked into this: Nearby (to Whitehaven) Lake District clubs seem few and far between. Bassenthwaite SC is as far as I'm aware the only dinghy club within easily accessible distance, but I've been told that those 20 miles will take you ages - Apparently the roads are winding and hilly, chock full of tourist traffic in Summer, and full of the wrong kind of snow in the Winter.

I have a feeling that Whitehaven might have their own sailing club (or somthing in one of the adjacent towns), but this might be restricted to yachts/keelboats.
