Think Wenlock is a great name, but then I'm bias, living in Little Wenlock.

To be fair they still run a set of games every year in Much Wenlock. See http://www.wenlock-olympian-society.org.uk/ - http://www.wenlock-olympian-society.org.uk/

my favourite news sp**f site is http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/the-mascot-nightmares-begin-201005202749/ - on the money again

Emma Bishop, a mother of two from Finsbury Park, said: "The names sound like a pair of prostitute-murdering opium addicts from the 1880s and they look like the Tellytubbies' abusive uncles.

"What we've got here is two giant, damaged teeth, each with a massive, psychotic eye and razor sharp claws. And the blue one seems to using bright, friendly colours to draw attention to his genital area.

Edit: s p o o f is censored? Bwahahahaha

I wonder how much they cost?  Mascots are pretty pointless at the Olympics - who remembers any of them???................que lots of people now googling and trying to prove me wrong

Anyway, I bet they cost an absolute fortune.  Some new age marketing company probably tossed off a fortune brainstorming ideas.  Why couldn't they use something already established?  I'm thinking Wallace and Gromit do the Olympics or bring back Morph!

Congrates on copying alstorer's link from 11:06.

At least the mascots are better than that dreadful logo. They are aimed at kids and so it's easy for adults to crititsie.

Having seen some momento's of previous paralympics. The mascot is much more important to the competitors than the arm chair viewer.

Or even the most simple mascot you can think of ...

Larry the London Lion!

He'll sell well for football with the "FA Cup" logo on his chest, and will sell just as well for the Olympics with the "2012" logo on his chest!

Is that Eric Morecombe singing and dancing "Bring me Sunshine" at the end of the Morecombe and Wise show?

Assuming I have the right song - I was young when it was on...
