Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help please.

Have you, or anyone you know, ever been to the Ionian Beach Club in the northern Peloponnesein Greece?  I'm desperately trying to sort out a sailing holiday for myself and my two teens, but Sunsail etc are way too expensive.  I came across this club (booking through Seafarer Holidays) and whilst it looks idyllic and the cost will be almost 50% of a similar Sunsail holiday, there are very mixed reviews on Trip Advisor.

It's still quite a lot to pay, but could be worth it if the boats are good and readily available and the sailing side of things is well organised etc.

I'd be really grateful if anyone has any information at all as I'm not always sure who the true authors of so called 'independent reports' really are!! Many thanks,

Julia

Sorry not been to the Seafarer resort but have had several great Sunsail holidays. With Sunsail closing most of its clubs I was looking at alternatives and liked the look of Neilson's Porto Heli resort as it has lots of kit.

Porto heli is great, its Neilson's 'high performance' center and while that may only mean a few skiffs the boats
are much better than any other resort ive been to.

Julia I have sent you a PM. For all others the Ionian Beach Club with Seafarer is a small venue with limited equipment. Not for the sailor looking for high performance equipment.

Also ask number of boats, number of guests using boats and number of specific sailing staff. Then work out the ratios. I bet you Minorca and Sunsail have the highest number of all but you will get the best choice.

Have you tried http://www.minorcasailing.co.uk - www.minorcasailing.co.uk

They really are the best for kit and tuition, ok i am a little bias, but it is true.

Reassuringly expensive, but there are offers avalible:

We had five Neilson sailing hollidays when the kids were aged 6 to 14 or so - the last one admittedly 6 years ago.

Used to be great .. but the quality of the sailing kit and the number of "sailing" resorts (as opposed to "beach plus clubs" where there are far fewer water toys per guest) went down.

Porto heli still looks like the real deal, with a few 4000s, a 29er and an RS800 to play with (if they're working!) .

'course you get what you pay for - at Nielson you'll be rigging your own slightly beat up boat whereas at Sunsail you'll be stepping into a rigged up brand new one!
