north south...one for sale in inverness....one on the clyde (?) ...one on the forth ...one on the tyne....two on the lakes....

any in still in Wales?

thanks for replying slop idol...I actually think the 762 is a better thought out boat for the UK market, but the platu could shape up to be a really good international bet.

We had 75 racing in lake Garda for the Europeans back in 2004....

Great boat loved sailing them, very hard to sail well and hard to keep under control down wind in big winds.

when we have raced against the local bene 25 weve managed to be faster, but your right, as an international class i would def go for the bene over the 762.

so that makes it about 6 and counting....

given you need less crew for both the schplatu and the 762, and can sleep some of them on board, I am surprised the bloody 1720 ever took off!

We still have one near Inverness for sale.

Someone coming up from the South Coast this weekend to see it.

Will let you know if it sells.

1720 was around long before either Platu or 762. By the time the Platu (B25) arrived there were already big 1720 and 707 fleets in the Solent. Bad timing for the Platu.

You can keep sleeping on smelly sportsboats thanks. Ah, that aroma of petrol and wet sails. I'd sooner camp.

Good luck with the sale! Which sail number / name did you buy in the first place though.

That would make it only two left in Scotchlandshire?

Really big, fantastic , I mean they split into two fleets which is sensible!

This is the trouble with the Cork and the 7o7, both of which are flagging now.

The schplatu offers near global sports boat racing at a budget price.

The 1720 is kind of an "anti" melges 24-cheaper, non 'dead dolls hiking' but a local boat for local people.

I have one on Windermere (WhiskyMac) and I know there's
another at the bottom end of the lake (Ridiculous).
We're currently racing in the Winter Series and have been
joined by Off Limits.

They are a great boat to sail. Wonderfully balanced
upwind, but a real nightmare above 35+ knots (we get
gusts like that on Windermere). Totally uncontrollable
with that small rudder!

I heard the reason why they never took off in the UK was
because the top guy at Ancasta (at the time) was taken
out of a seriously windy day and was scared sh*tless! He
said it was a bad product, so don't try and flog it.
Consequently, they didn't!

Real shame, but the good thing is that there are some
good 2nd hand bargains around.
