If I had the time and cash, I'd love a crack at this.  540 miles up ther coast of the US.

Wind is supposed to be up a bit today (around 25kts).

They start thru the surf every day except the first.  And every finish is on the beach so at times you have boats at full chat with the kite up coming in with the waves and drop the kite once the boat stops!!!!

Just worked out that roughly a similar length of race in the UK would be say from London to Aberdeen.

gotta find suitable beaches for the insane finishes at suitable intervals.

And I reckon there still wouldn't be much in the way of chicks in bikinis just wandering around the start/finish...

Yep, that might be a problem.

Maybe Something like London City docks to Mumbles (guess around 650 miles if you include a trip aroud the IOW and keep inshore)

Thames Raiders have ventured accross the channel and planned to to cross as far as Guernsey I think.  It's doable, but would take some serious organisation and it would probaly rain all week!!  (you might want 2 weeks to knock off 700ish miles).

Lands end to London would be about 450 miles and if the wind behaved, most of it would be down wind!
