I have no idea whether this is possible or not, but does anyone know of any way to suitably (permanently) mark jib sheets, e.g. draw a line around or at least make some sort of mark so that the position of the sheet in a deck cleat is repeatable?

I'm sure that I've seen something for halyards (rather than using permanent marker on the mast or deck), but I could be wrong.

Any ideas?

Stich in some thread of a contrasting colour. Sorted.Could then use some sort of vinyl or marker pen (if your sheet runs between turning blocks) on the deck to measure position.

We normally stitch in some lines of thread, different colours for different rig settings. Works well and doesn't rub off. I tried the permanent marker, but a combination of sea, sun and cleats means its not so permanent!

Cheers for the advice - looks like I need a needle and thread then! Trouble is that I can't even sew on a button! (I'm more Gripfill/staple gun than needle/thread.)

It'll be messy, but it will work (and it certainly won't be very pimp).
