Outboard Bracket.

Has anyone fitted an outboard bracket to this boat. I am the proud owner of one and love it to bits. Tried to talk to topper, just got a load of guff and useless referals to some guy who wants £400 to fit one in essex!!!!
Need help desperately. Photos, sketches, drawings, fag packet design,ANYTHING!!! Eternal gratitude available for the right answer.

errrr you may be in the wrong place (of course I may be
wrong). I'd try posting on a forum for more casual
cruising. Don't dismiss power boater sites either they
often fit brackets to GRP cruisers to carry the backup
engine.

Best of luck.

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

I'd try fitting one yourself. Have a look at the Stratos/Omega/Vision/Wayfarer ones for an idea of how they fit etc.

Depending on the one you fit, they do vary in price.

If you speak to Mark at Hartley Laminates he'll be able to provide you with a bracket and the correct bolts to attach it to your boat. The number is 01332 369751, the basic outboard bracket is used on the Wayfarer and the Wanderer but it is not design specific so could be used on any small ish dinghy.

Hello brothers in sails
I "inherited" from my friend used topper sport 16 without the headsail and want to order a new one from a sail master. I'm wondering if you can send me a few pictures of the hoisted headsail to understand how it looks like, and if it possible dimensions of the sail.

thank you in advance
Vladimir

PS may be you have the original tackling instructions??

There is some information here - http://kefaloniadinghy.weebly.com/about-sport-16.html" rel="nofollow - http://kefaloniadinghy.weebly.com/about-sport-16.html - about the sail area, so you could probably calculate the area of a jib if you measure the mainsail you have.

If you can measure the bits of the boat which hold the jib (how far up the mast, how far between the bow and the place where the jib sheets run through) then a good sailmaker will probably be able to make something suitable.

I assume you don't need a jib exactly the same as other Sport16s as you won't be racing?

A fiend of mine has a Sport 16 and simply clamps the outboard onto the transom using a spreader plate - simple but seems fine

Since i cannot find exact pattern of the jib i'll just measure the boat parameters and ask a sailmaker to make something up.
