nah thats the daggerboard case, for a slot gasket my mate with a fireball used thick dacron sail cloth, seems to have worked. I'm sure grumpfs will show up in a bit to tell you what superior technology the windsurfers have been using for decades, leaving the dinghy world in the dust

The title says gasket, but the description sounds like packing. The cheapest slot gasket is duck tape (but certainly not the best) but for packing, be careful using carpet, as it picks up grit that will scratch your nice shiny board. Chandlers sell stuff on a roll for it.

for solid packing, either go fully bespoke and fill the slot with filler (just around the base, not the whole case!!  Failing that contact adhesive soaked webbing is good.  For simple, adjustable, and solid grip the white fluffy stuff (polar bear pubes as its affectionately know) used on the mustos is great.  Maybe not the absolute cheapest, but great value in terms of what you get for your money.  Just make sure if you use it that the surface is really really clean and dry before you stick it on.

Jap tape is the answer! This is presuming that you are packing the case, rather than fitting a slot gasket to an International 14, which would just be silly.......

Nope it's the bane of our lives as well, there was a period when Fanatic
used a folded air encased flat tube of rubber on either side and they
worked quite well. But now they use a PU compound that they alternately
cut with and counter the grain so some are stiffer than others.

LDC do a kit for their boats and supply the glue which seems to work fair
enough, we changed the 500's slot flusher 3 times each season we owned
it, they are that important to the boats performance.

I quite like the folded sail cloth and alu battens that some 470's and 50's
use, I haven't dared check the Asbo, we had enough else going wrong
that needed fixing last season, but I dare say it will raise it's ugly head.

Hawke slot gasket which used to come from down Hayling way was
another
system I've used a lot over the years and looks similar to the stuff LDC
supply.

I really must bone up on what the glue is the LDC folk supply it seems to
do the job better than the old impact adhesives of yesteryear like Dunlop
Thicksofix and Evostick. Boards use Industrial superglue like Loctite 416,
superglue is acually 40% water soluable (not a lot of people know that)but
it's still a nightmare to get off when the time comes to change.

So sorry can't help with any improvements the windsurf Industry have
made and anyway their foils tend to be thinner and higher speed so pass
through more easily.

Definetly Jap Tape for packing, might want to use an independent adhesive (impact adhesive or somethign) to stick it as its own adhesive is not very durable.

For packing a daggerboard you need spartight

Sorry; it's not permitted for the Musto Skiff; we keep it simple & use the 3M fluffy stuff.

I would have have thought you'd get it from Simon Hiscocks http://www.shocksailing.com/index.html - http://www.shocksailing.com/index.html
