I was at the Paris Boatshow this morning and saw one hull from the new Hobie F18.  Photos are below:

(Sorry about the quality, I only had my mobile phone with me which doesn't have a great camera).

One striking point was the size of the dagger board case!

Nice one.

Dunno what to think, looks a bit like a capricorn infusion mix with a bow thats on steroids.

Boards gonna be pretty small...

Thanks for the pics Worthy

I think the reduction in daggerboard chord has been coming for a while now and am suprised that it hasnt fed into F18 quicker. The A-class has already gone down this route, and certainly the Australian C-Class "Ronstan" went down it as well. From a lateral resistance point of view it makes them highly effecient, the only downside is that in low speed tacks they will let go, so will require good boathandlng to get the boatspeed up quickly before going for height.

Looks good though

A few years ago the Nacra F18's daggerboards had a reasonably short chord (not as short as the new hobie) and they were changed for larger ones because of the lack of grip on the start line.

We will see what happens when we see it on the water!
