As many of you are in schools, and I am feeling lazy, I know some schools have software that tracks what you are doing "illegally" and screenshots it.

We currently have Securus Software, does anyone else know what other companies are out there that your school uses?

We have a system that allows teachers to brink up your desktop on their account so they can see what your seeing, with a class of 20 kids in the ICT room some of the teachers set up the screen so they can look at what every kid is looking at. But it also works for any teacher on any account at any time, also it seems to look for suspicious key patterns so it will alert the admin if you repeatedly are pressing the same keys (playing a game basically). Then of course theres the Naziesk internet filters but no one would ever ever want to use those there so rubbish. Dont know what company it is at the moment, might be able to find out though.

Schools in the East of England use a system called Protex for their internet filtering based around a system call Dans Guardian. It is ok but flakey as hell and is down almost as much as it is up. Once down it block all net access!

As for monitoring there are several systems out there depending on how your network is set up. A lot of schools use AB Tutor Control as it is very cheap and does the job (and is very difficult to hack if your network is set up properly). Either that or Net Op classroom of there are various other similar systems that work with thin client networks (as a lot of schools are moving towards).

Securus logs EVERYTHING you type, it looks for keywords and keystroke patterns too and takes screenshots if it comes across anything it deems to be suspicious. The machine does not even need to be permnanently connected to the network for this as long as the required services are running.
