Big smile I got a new sailing watch today. Big smile

It's a pink Optimum, lovely thing.

Didn't cost me anything because Contender443 works not far from LDC and he fancied the 6-pack buoyancy aid (his old one has mysteriously disappeared). He had to buy me a little something as well.
He's officially looking like Superman now, wow!

Both our girls got new sailing bags, we're all happy.

And it won't stop me from stuffing the start next time I race... LOL

Don't think a pink one is quite me!

Also, forgot to say it is only for sailing.  Have a nice watch to wear when not sailing.

Timex Ironman, less than £20 from argos, get the 200m version with the rubber round the display.  Realistically they will only last from aboot 2 years tops, of resonably regular sailing, but at that price, its still good value.  Doesn't matter if you loose it too.  It comes with a velcro strap, has count down, countdown repeat, and countdown-countup.  reasonable size digits, provided its on your wrist, won't work as a boom one though.  I'm on my third one now, nice and simple, just like me.

Definately the cheapest casio sea pathfinder watch. You can set a countdown for any time, really handy for pursuit races as well as normal 5-4-1 Starts! Simple to use and solid.
Cost - approx £30 plus you'll need to buy a velcro strap.

Casio Sea-Pathfinder Gents LCD Watch.

£30?!

£17.99 in Argos:

Personally, I've reverted from a velcro to an original strap - doesn't chew up my cuffs, and lasted more than a year.

Only wear it for sailing.

The plastic straps snap after too long in Salt water, and generally dont have enough adjustment to cope with winter sailing kit.

Casio watch, velcro strap for sailing, Nice metal watch for every other day. DONE

Whilst the Optimum watches are good because of the big numerals and general ease of use, the big yellow variety gradually come away easier from their mounting and for a specialist sailing watch they don't float!

I now have an Optimum 4 but the supplied strap is not very long - not if you want to wear it over a spray top.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

The trick with the big yellow ones is to tape around he join between the yellow and black, getting a rare colur of tape personalises your watch too!
