Talk about saving your water bottle, now, in the event of a capsize have you been known not to let your bottle drift?

The other week, I noticed from the daggerboard that my bottle was drifting off, so I got my helm to retrieve it as he was swimming.

next time we went over I got elbowed off the board

I was at an open once and it was a long day on the water due to missing the previous day due to high wind, i capsized near the begginning and my only water bottle slipped out, i pointed it out to the rescue boat who picked it up and promptly drove away, i never saw that bottle again

Capsised during the first beat at the Tiger this year, was inverted before we knew it.

As we righted the boat, I remembered about the bottle of Lucozade Sport and the Mars Bars that I took out with me!!

Decided I would rather save the expensive racing spinaker though .. and offered a floating mars bar to the RIB that had come over to us!

Always attach anything in your boat to the boat.

That's what Bungy is for.

At the Bala Easter Regatta during a capsize I fell in between the boom and the cockpit and took my brand new carbon tiller extension clean out of its holey nthing that it slots into.....it sank before I could save it.  I was very upset....

I have a biking bottle cage for my drink and my food goes into a bag inside the hatch cover.  I do lose my sunglasses fairly often....

The voice of experience says that electrical tape is not sufficient to secure a Mars bar to a flat surface. (A turn of tape around the mast I believe would be ok.)

Chest pockets (zipped!) are easier to access from a hiked position anyway, and it also keeps those crucial extra grammes further outboard....

i have bungee loops on the inside ends of my 600 racks to tie mars bars, water bottles, and bannanas (possibly, ive never tried it but i suppose it would work) to. i did once try to leave my phone in one of those "waterproof" VHF radio bags on the racks once. this did not work.
