Anyone else see the flyover first-hand?
We had the Typhoons, AWACS + VC-10 + Tornados, and then the diamond 9 of Tornados fly almost right over us (at Blym)
Quite an awsome sight ... And I'm kicking myself for not taking my camera down today!!

Anyone see the flyover in honour of the man who was 112 a few days ago? He was in the early RAF so they had flyovers for him, forget which planes. Pretty amazing.

Saw a huge fly pass in suffolk over the weekend, guessing they came out of duxford or one of the bases up there.

Duxford isn't actually an RAF base- modern planes only turn up for shows there- if they're flying at the show, they'll turn up in the week beforehand and parctice the routine on site. When you're in a single glazed conference room, a Typhoon doing acrobatics rather drowns everything out.
Most of the time though, it's mainly Spitfires I see from the office...

No problem folks anytime.
If what you saw in suffolk was the same numbers and types of ac as the flypast then it was probably them lining up, they tend to be lined up in formation by suffolk cause thats only a couple of mins for downtown london.

I try not to think about it, as we get funding for sailing events turned down for lack of cash.

Yer....next thing you know they'll all want real civillian equivalence pay, demand proper working equipment instead of the s**te that the government orders too keep the unions happy, decent living conditions, and want to take their full years holiday allowance...tsk tsk...dear oh dear it's not like the old days.

Tack'ho its not all bad,
RAF considers sport to be a duty, so travel costs to and from events can be claimed as expenses if your circuit is on the the auth'd list,
cheers RAFSA!

Yer,
Missed out this year on getting my circuit on, not that it makes much difference as I can't get much time off anyway! The only travellers I will make it to is the Worlds in Weymouth as I threw my teddies out the pram!

The painters and finishers will have a large printer that will be used for a/c stickers, with that they can knock up anything.
They will probably have the RAF Corporate logo saved in already, if not get it off headed note paper and take it down.
The stickers will stick ok to a laminate sail, but they don't like Dacron so you should be looking good. Orange is a clash with Red, White & Blue though!
Good Luck
