Anyone know of a good place to buy a small amount of Acetal rod?

I'm only looking for about 100mm of 16mm external dia so not looking for a bulk supplier!

Many thanks in advance

100mm as in 10cm? Don't think you can buy it in that small quantities.

However, RS Components sell it in metre lengths. You have to buy three lengths but it's only £10 the lot. Trade counters throughout GB. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=retrieveTfg&Ne=4294958462&Ntt=acetal&Nr=AND%28avl%3auk%2csearchDiscon_uk%3aN%29&Ntk=I18NAll&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&N=4294954667+4294890034&Nty=1&binCount=126&selectAttribute=16mm#breadCrumb - Clicky

What do you need it for?

Or try http://www.shopforplastic.co.uk/ - Davis Industrial and look at their "smaller quantities" range. Tempted to shout a big FGI for all the effort it took to find it but that would breach all forum etiquette rules.

Dave,

I'm making a fitting to go inside my Spi pole prodder.  Just need to get some rod I can turn down (need to find a way to do that as well!) and then insert into the top of the prodder.  internal Dia of the prodder is 14mm. XD is about 16.

No minimum order.

Pdf catalogue download. Looks like the closest they do is 15mm.

What, an end fitting? Might be easier just to buy some graphite filler and make a little mould to fabricate it out of epoxy/silica/graphite mix. Fill the mould, drill out the hole in the middle and file/dremel and polish. Silica/graphite epoxy is pretty hard wearing.

Not sure how good a result you'd get from turning acetal - it's quite soft

And whatever you do

Don't set fire to it.  Then blow the flame out and sniff the smoke

You will only do it once
