Towing a boat backwards isn't the problem, towing a boat with two lorries, now some questions have to be asked!!!

Always wondered how they moved big boats.

The fairline factory is in Corby, not exactly near the sea!!

Edit: just noticed the people on there aswell, and I assume they used that ladder to get on which looks lashed on..

another edit.. on the third look the ladder doesn't look lashed on.. Looks like a pretty wide and not very long boat though but I'm  guessing thats the camera angle

I work for fairline on the bigger range, bigger than most at corby, they are impressive when on there lorries and have convoys of police and haulage companies to remove anything in the way.  But that is seriously wide and dont know if its legal or not.  I can immagine towing high value boats is very stressfull

Ah right, the ones at Corby do only look 50 ft or so but they are still pretty wide loads! Where do they make the bigger ones?

I wouldn't want to tow like that... Looks like a disaster waiting to happen, and i definitely wouldn't be sitting on it just incase it does role off!

Oundle is still far from the sea! Surely the costs of moving them to the sea is higher than just building them near the sea?

you would think so but land on the coast I guess is more expensive and more at a premium and it all started in oundle with smaller boats.  Plus if they moved to the coast I would not have a job well an apprenticeship.

Longer than it looks in that picture then. Still seems pretty fat for a boat that long! I have given up trying to look stuff up that doesn't have anything to do with work because chances are it is banned and won't work for us!!

For the lazy ones amongst you lot:

The interesting bit:

Over 22,000 hours of design have been assigned to this boat. With its 600m2 of sailcloth, 35 meters of mast, low birth and retractable keel, this boat can otherwise be called a 4 x 4 of the seas. It is capable of going into Polar Regions, the tropics, up rivers and into regions where other boats of its kind simply cannot go.

even if it can go up rivers i wouldn't dare take it, i'd be scared of breaking it!

Its OK .. If you can afford one of those, you can afford the 20 or so full time crew needed to keep it afloat, plus a dedicated shore support team!

What interests me is - are the blokes still screwing hardware on, as the boat is rushed to meet a launch date?!

The blokes on the top are there to left cables, telephone wires over the boat & to remove parts of plants that get in the way, they would usually have insulated poles to allow them to do this.
