I have decided I am going to get one, only one I have looked at so far is the Velocitek S10 and it seems pretty good to me. Is it any good and does anyone know of anything else that is as good/better and how much is it?

Thanks

Chris

The other make in the frame would be Garmin, seen them but never had the prividge to touch the things. I am sure someone will be along that can assist more....

I picked my S10 at the show. I will report back on Sunday after the Cherub blast.

I couldn't find them at the show at all? How much did you get it for and from what stand?

Check the class rules for legality.

That is a good point actually, but I think I have seen people with them before but i will check nevertheless.

I think I would still get one anyway, quite a good training aid as you can see for yourself whats quick and whats not. Besides I like my gadgets and even if only when training it would be nice to see how fast (or maybe not fast) we are going

You can do clever things with GPSAR and a satellite picture from google to give you a lovely in situ view of your race...

GPS's are allowed in Cherubs. They just distract you anyway so theres no real benefit. I have a Garmin Foretrex 101, great peice of kit, use it for speeds and tracking back in when the fog comes in on the water. Its also a pretty good training tool when i'm out riding (i do loads of mountain biking) as i can analize my tracks when i get home and see how my performance varies from ride to ride. I know of 3 or 4 velocitecs what have leaked.

I have one and have been using it for the last 6 months, i have the S10 velocitek, i highly recomend it. It is illegal in most classes, but we use it at club sailing and when training. Really good for trying new things, its even good for sail settings as it will pick up small increases and decreases in speed. Mine has never leaked, you should open it and store it open to let the rubber seals swell up again after each use. but velocitek are brilliant and will help with any problem, so if it does leak through no fault of yours, they will take it back and sort it. the garmin foretrex is pretty good as its smaller, but not as helpful as the velocitek

Ok, thanks for your help . Going to order one now I think as I just searched quite a bit and didn't find anything that seemed to be better.
