Hows this for a comittee boat:

This was the comittee boat at MSC East Coast Piers Race 2007!

I don't think you could see the flags though, there was no wind but boy I am sure you could hear the cannons!

I remember the topper nationals had a small canon for the start sequence.

If you can't carry it, don't sail it!

when I'm sailing i'm of the opinion the comm boat should be small enough so as not to block the view either side but with a 20ft mast on it so the flags are visible and a truly gigantic air-horn or similar so the darn thing can actually be heard, specially when you're finishing, in a blow...

.... however, when I'm OOD these priorities are generally replaced with a hankering for a nice warm cabin, preferably with brew-up equipment and a reliable engine plus enough fibreglass round me to afford protection from the inevitable last-minute bargers and shouters

Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one
