Morning,

Friend of mine and myself would like to do some sailing, problem is that I have a Solution, he has a Phantom and he lives on the South coast whilst I'm up near Manchester.

What we would therefore like to do is find some events around the country where we could meet up and race - we're planning to do the Tiger Trophy and Grafham Grand Prix for example.

My question for you knowledgeable people is what events do you know of over the next few months that he and I could do.

Thanks for your help

Giles

Yep, windy as well - had a go last year when I had just taken delivery of the boat and it was a bit of a nightmare.  Froze my bits off!

Steve Nicholson Memorial Trophy at Northampton Sailing Club is usually a good one.  Last sat in Jan usually.  Get plenty of phantoms turning up to that one so you'll have good competition.

Loch Ness Monster Cat Race -

nothing approaches it !

If you don't have a cat beg ,steal or borrow one !

you aint lived if you haven't done the "monster " as I'm sure all those that have will agree , and it can never get better than the first one run although may get close .

yeah i know not relevant to the question , but fits topic !, event comes with warning - you will babble incessantly and irrelevantly for at least a week after and at  random times thereafter

Weston Grand slam, held annually over the 4 day Easter break nr Southampton.  Various fleets and a good start to the season.

I did Billy No Mates trophy for fast singlehanders at Carsington SC (near Derby) early this year.  It was a great event.

GGP was seriously windy, I had a mare sailing but it was good to meet up with people.

Fingers crossed (and good lady permitting) I will be there again next year (with a kicker that does not break).
