I need a new spinnaker. My current one is completely shot. It's covered in dozens of little patches as well has some much bigger ones. It also ripped at the head on Sunday. It feels like a duvet cover. Do you guys have one, or know anyone who could sell me one?

Have a look here, starting with Paul N's posting of 29/10/2006:

Short answer: get a new North kite from Jeff Vanderborght, 07971 404617. The new kite never ceases to impress me.

No need to trawl through message boards then. The process is quite simple:

Ring sailmaker. Send money. Take delivery. Go sailing.

Sorted.

Erm, why does a contender sailing soon to be cherub owner want a kite off a 3000?  Going camping perhaps?  Sorry, none of my business.

As it happens, I do know a (non forumite) bloke with about 5x aging 3000 class kites (old hyde design) - he might pass one on in exchange for some old rope (or some cash even).

I could ask?

I sail a 3000 as well, but upgrading to the cherub. Thanks for the offer but I'm about to seal the deal with hector (forum name).

hmmm, maybe upgrading was the wrong word. Just looking for something different, and after sailing a cherub I just had to get one. Obviously they're all different, but they all trying to achive the same thing. Make it go as fast as possible, and make it as thrilling as possible!

I never sailed the 3000 properly until recently (a few months ago) and we've nailed the going downwind quickly bit...the Cherub present a far more challenging sail, but when you get there...

Come to the 3k Nats at Draycote on 29/30 Sept and try out a V3k after racing for the heck of it. Take a look here: http://www.3000class.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=783 - http://www.3000class.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=783

I would but I have the scout nationals in south shields that weekend, plus I'm picking up the cherub there! I was planning on going though. I would love to try the V3000, but the reality is I'm not going to buy it. But if I get the chance, I most certainly will have a go.

Unfortunately I have lost contact with Keith (Hector) who had a 3000 kite. I was sailing the 3000 on Sunday morning in a 3/4 with no problems. Great fun! I had to leave early (went to see Prince) and a friend took it out with my helm and manage to snap a trapeze wire and tear the kite in one session! I have the scout nationals this coming weekend so if you have a spare 3000 spinnaker, sell it to me!
