Hey guys and girls, need some valuing done.
Hull 1989 Rondar build, Looks like its had a minor repair done on one side, Nice chunk taken out of the tip of the bow, Stress MARKS (not cracks) around the bottom pin of where the rudder attaches. Only gel coat deep. The pin itself doesn't wobble. Minor scratches and dinks IT IS PERFECTLY DRY! Not a drop of water in it after sailing. (all sounds a lot worse than it actually is!)
Fittings Mixture of them all! Harken, Ronstan, Holt etc...all fine.
Sails 2, well used but plenty of life left in them both. Perfect for club racing, maybe opens as well. One Wavelength and one North (I think). Both have a bags.
Spars Wavelength mast and Super Spars boom. Both aluminum, both fine.
Foils Centre board and rudder have a few minor chips and scratches nothing to worry about.
The boat is structurally sound, just a bit tatty around the edges but I have no shame in sailing her. Just re-progripped, also has both under/over covers, launching troll and combi trailer.
Value? I would guess around £700.

A DRY Rondar hull?!? Of that age?!?!!? Probably the only one in the country.
Don't sell it, it's invaluable.

haha! Funny but I need it valued!
I forgot to mention it has a compass and some lead. I doubt it's underweight now.

Take the lead out then! Why do you need it valued?

Stupid question. but whereabouts is the lead located? haven't checked mine, and the thing is very heavy, and quite old which might have something to do with it.

The lead is at the front of the cockpit, in line with the mast.

I'd say you should be thinking more like a grand if you give it a clean and as long as it's not one of those boats where Rondar got "creative" with the gelcoat colour.
It appears to have all the right kit and is complete so it'll be down to first impressions. Mate of mine bought a boat about the same age for around 1k last year and there's shortage of half-decent second hand boats at the moment. Put it on the BCA website and I'm sure it'll be gone in a week or so.

Having had a good look at her I reckon you could easily make a grand. Cheap Contenders sell quicker than anything - I'm still getting bloody emails about mine.
Although she is bright mustard yellow...
I wouldn't sell her yet. If you do, don't tell anyone at KGSC how much you got for her!

George, you're going to hate me. I'm getting a Cherub. I'm not bothered about fleet racing and don't want the restraints of one design boat. I'm not going to a full 05' rules, I'm going 97' rules first. There is nothing I can afford that performs like a Cherub, I just want fast and fun sailing at low cost! There are quite a few Cherubs in the SE and we were talking at the nationals about having more open meetings in the area.

I'm not gonna hate you mate i understand why your buying a cherub. Basically for the same reasons that rory and i were it's just were going to stick with fleet racing for a bit. Which cherub are you looking at buying. Kipper?

Wrong George. That was directed at Combat Wombat! Swapping my Contender for Flat Stanley in Scotland. Every one I have said that name to has said that she's a quick boat!

Ross, my boat is GBR 473, also a Rondar and I'd definitely be looking for more than £700 for it if I were to want to sell it. A grand for sure for yours. Good second hand contenders are like hens' teeth at the moment - I want to upgrade but can't find a boat in my price range...as soon as they're for sale they're gone.
Put it on the BCA site but also put it on the international site - there's a European boat shortage at the moment!
