If you can't carry it, don't sail it!

Watch your shins on the board when its up.

It hurts.

Watch your shins on everything it huts (I used to be black and blue are crewing in 11054).

Aside from that enjoy the ride (and perfect the trick of lowering yourself on the trapeze so when it all goes wrong you can step on to the board without even unhooking).

Forget sailing the boat, first thing to worry about is if you are upsetting anyone who you may already have commitments to.

Jumping ship is a quick way to lose friends.

No worries. Dan (the guy I sail the cherub with) said I would be up for it apart before I was asked!

Out of interest, what classifies as 'over sheeted'?

When it is sheeted on so hard that the sail goes out of shape and chokes the slot. Normally prevalent by the luff of the main backwinding up to the top of the jib.

Incorrect prebend can also cause this.

Or if you have a blown out jib you will never be able to sheet it tight enough to point without backwinding the main, you can ease the jib cars up a bit if it gets really bad but that in turn makes you're jib less efficient at pointing! In other words get a new jib!

Not had a chance to compare our sheeting to others as yet, so for the time being we're sheeting the jib in fairly hard - not so tight as to put a taught line between tack and clew however.

The best bet, I know, will be to get on the water with some others - once we're 'safe to be allowed out'
