Tried posting to this topic but nothing came through,  so reverting to starting another

My question is do the rules allow electronics to be used for data logging purposes ?

Many classes ban the use of electronics,  but does this aply to a 'Black Box',  buried away where there are no instruments to view,  so no benefit during the race ?

As we are seeing the cost of electronics is falling and GPS is now very affordable,  the Olympics and other top events are starting to make use of boat tracking so I am unsure we will see all this filter down quite quickly

Yeah, me too. The thread content seems to have got screwed up somehow.

My comment: having a basic (or no) screen would help keep the cost down.

Oh, and stick a camera in there to take a vid, or periodic snaps, of the crew demonstrating their undeniable sailing skills (or else arsing it up big time)
