Whos going to win the LV finals then?  I think Luna Rossa are looking good for it.  Should be an interesting match anyway.

What about Alighi - still think they're ahead of the challengers?

I think Alinghi is an unknown but I do think the standard of Luna Rossa and ETNZ is very high so its going to be quite a competition to watch.  In fact I'm itching to see how the LV Cup final goes.

Whatever happens the starts are going to be so important, the boats are so evenly matched and a win is going to be by only a few boat lengths and the only place you can make a few boat lengths is at the start.

Think if Spithil is on his game (and when is he not) then Luna Rossa will get it. Ive always been an NZL fan but i think Luna Rossa will win it.

I think Luna Rossa is on more of a roll than ETNZ so carries more team momentum into the final. However, if ETNZ can break that momentum then it's anyone's game.

Current score. ETNZ 3 - Luna Rossa 0 Nuf said.

If I was Brad I'd be afraid, very afraid.

It's a long trip back to Auckland for the rematch!

Yup, i though Spithill did a good job in the start and got off the line first, but ETNZ did seem to have the speed on Luna Rossa today both up and down wind, shame really as i was hoping the final would go to 9 races.

Any particular reason why you support the Italian team?  After all ETNZ has three Brits in the team including Ben Ainslie, the 2nd helm.  The Italian team only has one Brit.

But Ben isn't driving. Or likely to. Thanks to NZ for working him up, he definitely could be one of the best Cup sailors ever, but it doesnt make me want to support them. Luna are a really fun team with some great guys, and the Cup in Italy would be brilliant.

And they have the best kit!

I assume it's because people like to support the underdog and partially in order to keep the cup in Europe.

Personally I can't support any team that shares a sponsor with the Woolwich Pikies.

I like the name Luna Rosa  and they seemed like the underdogs!
But I am all for the Brits at heart!

I wanted LR to win just so the cup would be guaranteed to stay in europe, at least then it should be easy to go and see Origin in the 33rd cup.

Mr H said the same Charlie,

** Easy to go and see
** In europe we get LIVE tv coverage...this would not happen if it were held round 'tother side' it would take place in middle of night!  would they even bother showing it on tv here?

Thanks for all the reactions to my first post   All good points - and I agree it would be a lot easier to stay in Europe to see Team GBR compete in the Cup final in 2009

Well Luna Rossa are out and it's New Zealand v Alinghi in the final. We'll see the same two boats we saw in Auckland 4 years ago in Valencia in on 23rd June.

Just thought I'd rub it in.

Grant Dalton has done a super job of getting ETNZ back to it's rightful position.

Hey Laser, sounds like you support NZ....

So I s'pose everyone else on the thread now hopes Alinghi get the cup?... don't get me wrong - I do see the attraction of keeping it in Europe, but...

We shall see!

No guarantee it stays in Europe if Alinghi get it, they may put it out to tender again, and Dubai are itching to get there hands on it.

I'm predicting 5-0 in the final, though no idea though to which team.

And in a way it'd be nice to see the cup fought over in NZ just to see some proper windy races

It's got to be a closer match than last time surely?  I reckon TNZ have the advantage after all the competition they've just had.  I know Alighi will have been practicing hard as well but it's not the same is it?

Saying that I predicted Luna Rossa would win the LV Cup, so what do I know...
