What do you want to know?

There are sailing clubs over there, Google them.

First off thanks for my forum welcome.

Well, lets imagine that you are moving to a new country and having seen the sailing clubs available on the internet would like further info from those with local knowledge, with regards to which is best for dinghy racing.

If anyone can just give me a straightforward non patronising/private joke response I would be grateful.

Noel.

An uncle of mine lived there for a while and said that the wind was great, F4-5 most days. I think he got a hobie to sail out there. No idea which sailing club.

Hi Noel,

I lived in Dubai for the past 6 years although just moved to Uni back in Plymouth.

Here goes!

There are 2 main sailing clubs in Dubai DOSC Dubai Offshore SC and JASC Jebel Ali Sailing Club. DOSC is the main keelboat club which does mainly the yacht racing although holds a couple of open regattas a year in which dinghys from JASC come down.

JASC on the other hand was the primary sailing club in the Middle East and due to the building work kind of ceases to exist although it has now moved over to a beach neay by and this is the main club for dinghys for now.

There used to be a relatively strong laser fleet but the biggest class from what i have heard and used to be is the Catamaran class. There are not many twin string boats out there apart from the cats although a few foiling moths are now appearing.

Any questions feel free to ask me.
