Hiya

Well I'm heading off down under in a week and I'm still trying to line up a go in a dinghy of some sort in Sydney Harbour on either the Saturday or Sunday 3rd/4th March. Can anyone help us out?

I'm well up for crewing if there's some club racing going on or anything like that?

Failing that if anyone can point me in the direction of somewhere that hires Lasers out or similar, that would be appreciated.

Greg

on the sunday we have a sprint series in the 12s, at Sydney Flying Squadron, kiribilli.

thats just over the harbour bridge from the city, there is a spectator ferry on the day. might be able to get you a ride.

I thought you'd already found someone?

I've got a regatta on, but I can lend you a very old Laser. Unfortunately I'm on the western side of the Bridge and I assume you won't be able to tow it to anywhere more interesting.

There's no place that hires them out, unfortunately - unless Northside Sailing School in Mosman/The Spit/Middle Harbour does. Google their site. They also have Fevas I think.

Have you emailed the Australian Historical Skiff Sailing Association or Sydney Flying Squadron to see whether you can get out on a Hysterical Skiff? Check the AHSSA and SFS websites for contact details.

Another option is to see if Middle Harbour Amateur Sailing Club (they have a website) will lend you a club Laser if they still have one. It's not far from the best part of the harbour.

A final try would be Double Bay Sailing Club, a strong Laser club in the heart of Sydney. You may be able to play the uni sailing card there if you did much uni sailing as it is also the HQ for the University of Technology Sailing Club and they had their Lasers there.

Cheers for the pointers

So far my efforts have come to naught but I'm emailed Double Bay Sailing Club and Middle Harbour Sailing Club, so hopefully I'll get sorted out with a Laser.
