Can anyone recommend early season events in Scotland.  Most clubs seem to hold their opening events mid-late April.  Is there anything good on before that?  I think Dalgety Bay run a frostbite series through March - is this well attended?  What kind of boats mainly take part?  Is there anything in the west / clyde / elsewhere? cheers.

Hey,

Helensburgh have a winter series every second sunday starting this one. We're doing it in the B14 but should be a good mix of classes.

Enterprise at Loch Venachar? I probably know who you are if i saw your face if your a regular on any scottish circuit. I Know Jim and Margret Galloway from your club quite well and Micheal and Anna G.

Give me a PM if you want more details

cheers

As Calum has said, theres still a few spaces to enter the Helensburgh Series, its £15 for the whole series and you get a boat parking space for the duration included in the fee. 2 Races a day think first race is 11am every second sunday. I dont think the Largs series starts until march(ish). If you stay near Venacher then having the HSC series run every second sunday may make it that bit easier for you to attend as your not going to b travelling every weekend.

I'm a DBSC member and I seem to remember that our season started last year on 1st April, so no, there should be but there isn't currently a frostbite series. A bit of a trek for you but a fun option is sailing on Kinghorn Loch over the winter. It's little more than an outsize pond and features crowded starts and 90 degree windshifts, but I recommend it!
