Quick question

Had the shoe on the bottom of the gnav pop off the boom yesterday. Only happened once before and I put that down to the elastic being to loose.

Its much tighter now but after righting the boat from a capsize yesterday it had popped off again... and its a real pain to get on when your sailing in a good blow so we had to through it back in to fix it before continuing.

Not sure if it jumped off during the jib (bad helming left the boom hanging on the wrong side for to long... always a recipe for getting wet) or if it was because  we had let the kicker off before righting... and perhaps the flogging around once up popped it off.

Either way does any one know why this happens and what we can do about it?

Ian

Instead of putting a single peice of bungee around, use 4mm bungee and put it around 2 and make sure its tight. It would have come off when the boom hit the new side with to much kicker eased, or this is what usually happens.

To get it on takes 30 seconds when you how, just crank the downhaul on as hard as you can (the kicker has to be fully eased aswell), then make sure that the gnav is on the windward side. Then simply push it back on, it also makes it easier if the helm trys to keep the main in as much as they can.

hope this helps
