I sustained quite a nasty sailing injury this Saturday, that I thought I might share with you!!

Whilst racing downwind, I was leaning against the boom, the boat broaches and the next thing I know I am swmining between the boat and guard rail, think I might have hit the guard rail on the way down!!

Anyone else sustained quite a colourful image??

Well if I had had a photo of my calves after sailing a firefly the other week that would beat that one on colour. Bruises still there after a week and it wasnt even that windy that day.

Several people who I have crewed for in the FD have complained at me for doing that Hobbo, my reply tends to be. "I have to release the pole during gybes or drops, don't put your face in the way of it!" It is infact a very good game for the crew to try and collect the helm with the pole. The helms have revenge however while trying to poke the crews eyes out with their boat pointing stick. So it all evens out in the end.

You ought to avoid that kind of reading on a Monday morning... not good for your mental health

Oh, and I don't speak Portuguese, but I will be cautious next time I order a kebab.

Ah in which case it was probably just boredom, We did see that the Ospreys got a bit stranded when the wind dropped.

Currently racing with a herniated disc in my neck. Absolute agony, deferred pain extremely instense in left forearm and left hand completely numb... tends to make sheeting a bit difficult!

Broke a bone in my foot. I snapped the trap ring on my musto skiff and proceeded to fall off the boat, only problem was my foot was in the foot loop. Lucky to get a way with only breaking a small bone.

I have to say I was squealing like a little girl when I was hanging upside down from my capsized boat with my foot bent around the rack.

not nice

I got crushed between my laser and the side a while ago and cracked a load of ribs and my collar bone and dislocated my hip. I'm only just getting back on the water now

sounds bad!!

between your laser and the side of what??

I've had some pretty bad lickings cycling.  I lost control down a hill in a slippery time trial and slid with my bike for about 50 metres because my shoe cleats wouldn't come out of the pedal.  Got some nasty cuts n bruises but was really lucky it wasn't worse.

Came in off the wire a bit quick for the gybe and kicked the, erm, kickbar.

And no, we didn't survive the gybe...

This is why I never use the foot loops (on my contender I had doorstops wedges screwed to the deck which I just pushed up against)
