Does anyone know where i can get a contender rudder, i have looked and looked but cannot find one.

I really want to get into the world of contender sailing,  i would also be one of if not the youngest contender sailor at the age of 16.

I have the hull, parts and fittings nearly finished but still no rudder, if i cannot find one i will have to use the old 505 rudder i have been lent, and hope it works.

If anyone has any spare contdender parts also laying arround, please give me an e-mail at mailto:hollandsd@hotmail.co.uk - hollandsd@hotmail.co.uk and i may make you an offer for them.

Cheers Dan

Have you tried the contender newsgroup at

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/contender/ - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/contender/

Theres a message board and a bunch of very helpful contender sailors who might be able to help you out.

Yep he has, the poor boy... many many times, and he's not the only one! I wonder where are all those spare rudders in the Contender world... There must be a stash somewhere!

If you've got a 505 blade then making a stock to make them fit your boat really isn't a huge job, and its a nice introduction to the wonderful world of boat hacking:-)

Some plywood, a bit of strip softwood, some epoxy, some fittings and you're away... If you post photos of what you've got no dounbt we can give you some clues.

The trouble is there is who sells cheap foils for boats like contenders, i bet a blade alone is £300at least, plus stock means that you could virtually buy a complete old Boat or the same price !!!  If i need an expensive part, i find a bargin banger take what i need then either brake the boat for parts and usually get back hat i paid for it or sell it on e-bay - again usually getting what i paid for it !!!

See below:

Also with this one you could virtually make a 505 with your rudder as well , bargin 2 boats for one

believe it or not, you are all right there, no one has rudders for sale, i have e-mailed the twin trapeze 505 rigged contender, but there was no reply.

the contender group on yahoo, is helpful for knowledge but for parts, Zilch.

ahh, help, what to do, so confusing.
