You head to the sailing club, in the hope that up in the hills the fog, drizzle and lack of wind may not be an issue. You're wrong, and its the same up there with no signs of clearing. You think "sod it" and at 3 in the afternoon, when you're hanging wallpaper, you look out the window.
Bright sunshine and a F2-3.
Crap.

don't you hate it when you sail 3 races back to back in bugger all wind and then as soon as the last person has finished the wind fills in

Don't you hate it when there's a great day like today with no wind so you can put your new mast up.
Only to get to the club to find you haven't got all the bits so you can't put it up !
I know it'll be lovely next week when we have to do it!!

Don't you just hate it when you think "I'll have to go the other way to get past that (faster) boat. You do so and get dumped out the back. Must have lost 300 yds in one beat to a Tornado doing that today. Before this point, we were having a good race.

When even sailing like an absolute tool and not being able to think due to having the sorest tonsils ever. Be lying 3rd going into the last race of a travellers even knowing all u had to do was beat the 2 boats that were on the same points as you. You get a good start know you werent over the line because you only just missed the pin then they have a general recal. Now at this point you get wished good luck by the one hottie in the fleet.(All going to plan at this point). Get another ok start. One of only about 5 boats who make it thru the line on stb and get to go left up the beat (had paid all weekend due to there being no wind up the loch side on the right) the 2 boats you have to beat are a good 20 seconds later on crossing the line and one goes left and one goes right naturaly since right hasnt once paid i loosly cover left. Boat that goes right comes out 3rd at the windward mark having made up summin like 100 yds of lossed ground. Due to it then beiogn the same old prossession arround the course due to a lazy race team staying ashhore not going out in a comittie boat then we had no hope of getting bk and end up 4th overall in the event.
F***king Ponds!

ooooh, a lot of anger their Calum. If you'd have just sailed faster up the beat and got to the windward mark first it wouldn't have been an issue....would it?!

Don't you just hate it when... you've spent two races and almost three hours on you knees in the cockpit desperately trying to stop the bloody Lasers catching you and then the wind picks up enough to get on the wire on the last beat...
Personally I think that's even worse than seeing it pick up when you're watching from the bar... at least you're watching from the bar!

Don't you just hate it when... you are twin wired with the kite up langstone harbour when the daggerboard starts gently bouncing along the bottom . There is no time do do anything except brace yourslef for the ineviable daggerboard induced pitchpole

don't you just hate it when... at 5.30am you are 30 minutes into a 4hr journey to an open and you get sudden and total trailer failure on the motorway causing you to limp home for repairs and miss the event.

what about when you are having a great day of racing in a decent wind (not to strong and not drifting) with good waves when you make a sloppy gybe on the 2nd run, hit the next wave, stop and watch the top half of your rig keep going (dam rivets in an aluminium mast ).
but its so much nicer to have a new mast and your money back from a freindly and cooperative insurance company .

That's harsh Rick!
I'm so bored with no sailing action (waiting for a new mast track), I've identified the only entertaining thing available that belongs to the club. Feva sailing singlehanded with the kite has to provide some sort of challenge. I must be the ideal combined crew weight at 87kgs...

Fun if racing against other Fevas or similar speed boats, not fun if racing against much faster boats and being left behind to chug round by yourself. Also fun if blowing old boots, not fun if a drifter.

dont think it would be fun in a blow at only 87 kgs. i have trouble upwind in our feva when its windy and we weigh 124kgs together. downwind would be hillarious though. (windy being 30--35knots)

124kgs?! You could sail something good with that sort of all up crew weight. Like a National 12...
I'll report in on the single handed feva experiment on Sunday evening unless superspars actually send a mast track before then...Should be a laugh downwind.

Well having resorted to the same thing a few times, even at about 50kgs the challenge doesn't stay challenging for long unless its windy.

It was crap.
It's been nicknamed 'the bucket'. Deeply horrible boat - if that's designed to get kids into sailing, I'm amazed there's any juniors sailing.

windy day, 2 section mast, sleeve of top section is riveted in. rivets coroded aluminium, going down wind and hit a wave, it made a good noise .it broke just above the join of the 2 sections.
