I've been looking for an older wooden Phantom (20-30yrs old) with the deep conventional cockpit layout (non self draining), but have so far been unable to find one despite placing 'wanted' ads in all the obvious places. The only boat I have been offered needs a winters worth of time spending on it and more money than it would ever be worth.

Is it that all the old Phantoms that have not either expired or been converted to self drainers are being regularly sailed, or is there still likely to be an old unloved Phantom somewhere in the corner of a dinghy park awaiting a new caring owner?

Unfortunately financial restrictions rule out newer wooden boats or plastic fantastics.

change your name --- Rich , with a name like that bargains won't come bounding

seriosly though , just keep trolling the net , put a keyword alert on ebay , and some of the dinghy selling websites allow you to do this too.

http://www.dinghyshop.co.uk/ - http://www.dinghyshop.co.uk/  is one that does this , enter what you want , price etc and as soon as any advert fitting your needs is put on you get e mailed .

Good too when buying sought after boats .

goodluck

Tom, thanks for the heads up on the ebay boat, unfortunately it's been converted to a self drainer and I was searching for a conventional hull. I went to look at this boat about 9 months ago but I wasn't keen on the standard of the conversion work that had been done. The boat was finally sold a couple of months ago after the price had been substantialy reduced to £300ono but it would appear the new owner has decided to move it on again after only a few weeks.

The search continues

Cheers
Rich
