A combination of no wind, boredom, and creativeness at the RS 300/600 Winters, led to an interesting development.

It would appear that an RS600 sail fits perfectly on an RS300, which begs the question, will it catch on?

Watch this space.....

Superb! Is the 600 sail bigger or smaller than the RS300 a or b rig?

It fits on a B-rig mast perfectly, just have to fasten the clew to the reefing point on the sail so it fits the sloping boom. The roach is massive though, must be another 2sqm up there!

RS300 A - 9.25 square meters

RS300 B - 10.00 square meters

RS600 - 12.14 square meters

Who's going to be the first person to put a kite on a 300 then? I've put a kite on a Moth before, so it is (vaguely) possible.

Yeah, I've had the OOD - pre-race, fortunately - ask me if I'm an asymmetric!

It didn't sail too badly either - seemed to be slower upwind than the B rig but it was certainly rapid downwind. We need to have a play with it in some wind!

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

I considered that but I just asked them where the pole and trap wires were hiding....

I had lots of people asking me what my PY is...they seem to think it should be a lot quicker than a Phantom......

The levels of boredom on saturday did approach attempting to add a vario kite to the mix- I think we had run out of duck tape by then (or the bar had opened)....

I'm still working on a way of rigging a spinnaker pole that will self stow along side the boom. We need to look at how the MXray worked and copy that.

Then laugh at each other trying to hoist kites in such a wobbly beast!
