Chris249 says it's an old Int Moth. Whatever it is, the hull looks like it could be a fast little thing, with a LOT of TLC!

(cue the Cherub posse.....)

Do we get a full on fanfare or just a round of applause and a snickers as we enter?

Weve already been chatting about this and the owner claims its 10ft which means its probibly a moth or a cherub or a one-off. It looks a bit bigger than 10ft to me. Low freeboard and no visable kite setup suggests its probibly not a cherub.

I have emailed the seller and he doesnt seem to have a clue...

Hull shape looks surprisingly modern whatever it is

I'm thinking possibly a John Shelley design International Moth of the '60's. Old Mothies reckon the Shelleys were a superb boat to sail, quicker than a Europe and more stable than a Duflos and with a lovely feel.

It doesn't have the hollow in the topsides panel of other Shelleys I've seen in pics and looks a bit average around the mast, but Shelley Moth seems a possibility.

it still looks a bit long to me for a moth, and theres just something about those flares that dries out cherub, but yet loking at the hull form it looks like in the aft sections like a 9er almost, so would make a very interesting conversion to single handed skiff me thinks.....the other that keeps coming to mind is that the cockpit looks too roomy for a single handed boat of its age from that piint of veiw it definetly looks to me to be a single hander, but again with no obvious kite, although there are no fittings at all anyway. Could it be a prototype? It looks very similar in plan to that TOY dinghy i cant remeber who designed that but it never got very far, but its supporters gave it nothing but praise. May not even be from this country though however for its age that may be a long shot. Still though, very intriguing... looks fast, cheap but also looks very soggy, may be best used as a plug me thinks for someone looking for a project. Never know could be the next swift solo...

The sellers are just house clearers with a passing interest in sailing so I'm not surprised. I know them from old but I'm not in touch now.

Incidentally the bit of road the boat is pictured is the (very well trod) route from my old sailing club to the nearest pub!

Need dimensions, but if its 11 ft then I reckon an early 60s Moth. The decking would have been illegal for a Cherub.

Stick a Moth rig on it and see what happens!

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

Cant argue with that logic. Put different rigs on the boat, and if the rig fits...
