215 or so boats, naff all wind.  One race Saturday and another two on Sunday - no pursuit race. The pictures give a fair impression of the conditions except the big shifts and bands with no wind!

Big suprise was that although conditions suited slower hikers as opposed to trapeze asymmetrics, due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, the slower boats didn't do as well on H'cap as expected.

Yeah very annoying that. Though most of the slow fleet did manage to beat some fast H'caps over the water they didnt neceseraly do well over all

I think that was due to the fast fleet starting the race with wind then five minutes later the slow fleet started and it had died down apart from the very last race where the slow fleet did pretty well

Yeah thats true but even they didnt start in wind all the time

in the first race on saterday the first fast handicap boat came 42nd so you can hardly say it was biased for the fast fleet, you have to remember that the boat that won it (29er) was sailed by paul brotherton (olympic sailor) and mari sheperd (ex 29er european champion). It was a pretty crap event this time in terms of racing in my opinion

A 49er won the first race the first slow handicap was 24th a phantom

2nd race was won by a phantom where they did dominate the quickest fast boat was a fireball in 41st

3rd race was won by a 29er with 8 out of the top ten boats were fast handicap boats. I do think that this race was the fairest race all having the same wind all the way through.

I thought the racing was ok just let down by the poor wind. Top tiger dinner defiantly made up for it.

The first race was dominated by Fast H'cap with a Phantom the best of the slow in 20 something. In that race, the slow fleet had less wind for longer, they had to try and pass half the 'faster' boats (Most with bigger sails and hence windshadows), and finally most of them were caught up in what must be the biggest raft I've ever seen at the last leeward mark. The noise from that was interesting. It started with a few calls for water/no water etc. Escalated to louder shouts, with more and more getting involved and became a crescendo of shouts, abuse and general noise as about 100 boats rafted up.

Best sight was the guy who was jammed between two yoof squad types who were having a hard time accepting there was nowhere to go. He just threw his tiller and main away and lit up a cigar. Class.

LOL yeh there were some HUGE rafts at leeward marks. I saw a twinky which ended up going round the wrong side of the mark backwards because there was nothing else they could do. lol
